Purpose of the job
Lead a multi-disciplinary team of Plant Maintenance personnel. Establish a maintenance and preventative maintenance programme for all plant machinery and equipment.

- Accountable for the maintenance and installation of equipment on the plant as per good engineering practice and legislation.
- Lead a multi-disciplinary team of plant maintenance personnel.
- Establish a maintenance and preventative maintenance programme for all plant machinery, equipment and ensure that it is carried out by maintenance team.
- Plan and execute maintenance activities to expected standards and specifications utilizing SAP.
- Ensure equipment reliability and availability to Operations through effective planned and preventative maintenance strategies (forward planning, bad actor list, vulnerability study, reliability improvement, defect elimination).
- Control maintenance and project budgets and recommend suitable suppliers.
- Deliver capital projects efficiently, executing and managing brownfield projects while optimizing internal resource utilization and control.
- Supervise service providers and contractors carrying out work
- Maintain SHEQ standards as set out in legislation (OHASA, SANAS Codes of Practice etc.) and voluntary systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, CAIA etc.)
- Drive Maintenance Excellence initiatives, in accordance with the OHS Act
- Develop and implement inventory management processes to maintain optimal stock levels, ensure spare parts availability, and asset control.
- Lead Cadence meetings for Maintenance Execution and Reliability & Integrity, ensuring visibility of risks and process functionality.
- Keep all statutory and non-statutory files and documents up to date.
- Ensure safety Critical PMs and Works Orders receive require priority
- Responsible for ensuring maximum efficient operations of equipment, machinery and engineering stores, as well as the care of plant and support equipment, through the direction of a technical support team
- Responsible for ensuring maximum efficient operations of ChemTRAC system. Maintain and manage fleet
- Lead and assist in incident investigations at times.
- Resolve day-to-day technical problems on the production line and ensures equipment and machinery compliance with production procedures and processes specifications related to mechanical, machinery, instrumental & electrical or civil works.
- Maintain team KPIs and ensure Targets and Measurements are met.
- Management of breakdowns and RCA’s.
- Supervisor of machinery – GMR2.1
Qualifications and expertise required
- Grade 12 / Matric
- National Higher Diploma or BTech or BSc in Engineering, specializing in Mechanical Engineering.
- 8 to 10 years related experience in a chemical plant environment
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems, specifically SAP
- Knowledge and understanding of performance management
- Knowledge of project systems.
- Ability to coach and mentor a diverse workforce.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Management: Ability to function effectively with other departments, suppliers, and service providers
