Purpose of the Job
To provide technical support and maintenance service to all plant and site control systems
Roles and Responsibilities
- Assist with solving control related problems relating to the plant in which they are assigned to work
- Assist Engineers and Foreman in various tasks by planning and gathering data.
- Perform maintenance duties in areas of the plant as instructed by the Department Foreman
- Assist with minor projects and plant upgrades relevant to the plant and their trade
- Use trade specific knowledge and experience in the application of instruments and control engineering principles to effect practical solutions
- Work with tools and equipment to repair or service instrument and control units on plant machinery and equipment
- Guide, coach and mentor Apprentices. Identify and report on their training needs, progress and skills development
- Monitor the functioning of various plant and equipment and report findings
- Order required spares and materials from Service providers
- Comply with all safety regulations as per company rules and procedures as well as what is prescribed in OHS act
- Must be able to carry out Standby Duties and after hour call outs
- Must be able to attend Practical assessment after Interviews
Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 (Maths) with Maths and Science
- Trade Test: Instrument Mechanician (Red Seal) N3–N6 Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering
- Apprenticeship completion (2–4 years)

3–5 years of hands-on industrial experience in a chemical environment
- Working experience with Control System & Automation (Flow meters, PLC's, Telemetry systems, Endress and Hauser, (Flow Metrix, ABB) and Yokogawa DCS systems
- Experience in Boiler Station Control Instruments and Flow Meters
- Valid Code 8 driver’s licence
