Boiler Operator

- Start up, operate, and shut down boilers and associated equipment
-
Maintain correct steam pressure, temperature, and output
- Ensure continuous and efficient production of steam or hot water

Adjust controls to keep operations within safe limits
-
Record key parameters (pressure, temperature, water level)
-
Follow strict safety procedures for high-pressure systems
-
Prevent hazards such as overpressure, overheating, or leaks
-
Respond quickly to alarms and emergency situations
-
Inspect boiler components, valves, pumps, and pipes
-
Detect gas leaks and take immediate action
-
Ensure proper functioning of safety devices (flame failure systems)
-
Follow strict gas safety regulations
-
Maintain detailed logs of operations and performance
-
Report abnormalities or inefficiencies
- Adherence to safety health and environmental rules and regulations
Education and Qualifications
- Grade 12 / Matric (or equivalent)
- Boiler Operatoring Certificate is required
- Trained Boiler Plant Attendant with minimum 2-3 years with practical experience in firing and operating modern water tube (John Thompson Boilers) and axiallary plant
- Experience with gas, coal, or multi-fuel systems
- Ability to:
- Read gauges, meters, and control panels
- Troubleshoot faults
- Follow strict safety procedures
