Technical Advisor

AECI Plant Health is looking for an experienced Technical Advisor to provide high-level technical expertise, in-field support and specialist guidance to Crop Advisors and Regional Sales Managers. This role plays a key part in strengthening crop programmes, supporting sales growth and ensuring technical excellence across our in-house product portfolio. The role will be based in the Western Cape (Boland) with a focus on Pome and Stone Fruit and also Wine Grapes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist technical and in-field support on crop programmes, agrochemicals and nutritional products

  • Develop, implement and monitor integrated spray and crop programmes in line with regulations and MRL requirements

  • Train and mentor Crop Advisors through workshops, on-field support and technical coaching

  • Support sales strategies by identifying opportunities, addressing knowledge gaps and promoting in-house products

  • Investigate and manage complex customer complaints and insurance claims

  • Conduct crop inspections, product trials and performance evaluations

  • Collaborate with Portfolio Managers, Regional Managers, third-party suppliers and industry stakeholders

  • Contribute to regional budgets, forecasts and sales targets

  • Ensure compliance with SHEQ standards, policies and procedures

Minimum Requirements

  • B.Agric / B.Sc Agric (or similar tertiary qualification)

  • AVCASA or BASOS accreditation (or willingness to obtain both)

  • Minimum 5 years’ post-graduate experience in agrochemicals, agriculture and/or plant nutrition

  • Strong technical, problem-solving and customer relationship skills

  • Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel (including cross-border if required)

  • Computer literate (MS Office; .NET advantageous)
