This role is designed to lead the team in successful completion of the production plan in accordance with goals.
Required outputs: Functional
- Plan daily production schedule to meet delivery targets and customer requirements
- Ensure appropriate documentation is available for batch start up e.g. work plans, MSDS, log process and SOP’s to execute the plan on time and in full
- Ensure that production processes run smoothly by allocating resources, managing labour, and monitoring machinery availability
- Lead, train, and motivate production team to achieve production goals and maintain a positive, performance-driven work environment
- Responsible for all managerial functions including maintaining discipline and enabling the development of all production employees
- Manage and direct activities with a focus on creating a safe working environment through a zero-tolerance approach to unsafe practices and adherence to manufacturing best practices.
- Driver of daily Goal alignment meetings and engagement with operators
- Conduct daily production meetings to communicate targets, quality expectations, and any operational issues
- Identify and escalate production challenges, quality deviations, and resource constraints to management
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and optimise processes
- Handover shift by communicating the details of the past shift from incoming Production
- Supervisor in all areas of responsibility. Sign off work plans, logs, miscellaneous and records accurately
- Assume OHS Act responsibility for the factory – Legal Appointment
- Lead and/or team member of incident investigations
- Update and draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
- Administration and Execution of Permit to work to ensure that hazards and precautions are defined
- Collaborate with the planning department for Storage management (bulk, WIP, Finished product, HFR, Dog stock)
- Assist with stock take and cycle count and stock recons
- Responsible for excellent housekeeping and SHEQ standards
Qualifications and Experience (Must)
- Matric
- National Diploma in Operations Management or Chemical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in chemical production environment
- Knowledge of safety, quality and environmental best practices and management systems
- Computer literacy
