Maintenance Planner

Purpose of the Job
Responsible for the integrated planning, prioritization of maintenance tasks and managing the preventative maintenance system.
Required outputs: Functional
- Set up and chair weekly planning meeting
- Create work packages for ad hoc and planned tasks
- Ensure the work package contains all information about the required resources, i.e. labour, materials, equipment availability, services and works instructions to ensure that the work can be executed in a safe, effective and efficient manner
- Obtains technical input from the Engineering Manager or SME, i.e. technical advice, inspection plan, isometric-drawings(s), etc.
- Ensuring that spares and materials are always available, and by issuing any orders for spares and other materials required on all planned maintenance activities
- Obtain “quality feedback” from the execution group or from the Maintenance Work Co-ordinator to optimize his future planning.
- Create and archives maintenance plans set up for specific equipment
- Attends daily maintenance schedule update meeting with Engineers, Gatekeeper and Maintenance Work Co-ordinator.
- Decides together as a team which jobs to be included in the daily/weekly schedule Ensures that all SHE aspects are taken into account to execute the job in a safe manner. If required, he liaises with the SHE appointee.
- Responsible that, at the beginning of a year, a yearly maintenance schedule is drawn up. This schedule includes all planned (legal) maintenance inspections, planned production stops, planned maintenance shutdown, major (anticipated) maintenance repairs, etc.
- Compile daily, weekly and monthly planned maintenance reports
- Monitoring and managing the balance between utilizing internal resources vs. labor hire and contractors, based on demand
- Monitoring, evaluating and analysing maintenance requests, by being part of the team investigating breakdowns and major failures.
- Updating the plant maintenance resources and equipment schedule as a result of the failure investigations. By monitoring that the maintenance execution teams are adhering to the maintenance schedule.
- Managing the active list of work orders and backlog should be recorded and also communicated to, Engineers, Maintenance Work Co-ordinator and Gatekeeper for action, during the weekly planning meeting
- Plan and help execute plant shutdowns
- Must be able to do overtime and standby duties when required
- Must be in posession of a valid drivers licence and have own transport
Qualifications and Knowledge
- Grade 12 with Mathematic and Science
- Trade Test qualification (Artisan)
- National Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field (Essential advantage)
- Valid driver’s license
- Proficiency in MS office suite and SA
