Fitter and Turner

Purpose of the job

Manufacture, assemble, repair and maintain mechanical components and systems with high precision for the machines to operate efficiently and safely. 

Required outputs: Functional

• Perform Schedule/Preventative maintenance tasks to minimize plant down-time
• Do improvements, new installations and modifications to plant & equipment
• Respond to equipment breakdowns
• Ensure safe operation of plant & equipment
• Perform general housekeeping tasks
• Must be prepared to work overtime and standby as and when required
• Must be in possession of valid driving licence
• Must be able to work at heights or in confined spaces
• Must be able to read and interpret drawings
• Proven planning & fault-finding ability
• Must be able to obtain a certificate of fitness

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills Requirements

• Completed Grade 12 / Matric with Mathematics and Physical Science or Technical N3
• Trade test certificate in fitting and turning (red seal)
• Must be able to read and interpret drawings
