Senior Application Specialist: Application Development (.NET)

To lead and govern the organisation's Application Development landscape by driving the design, modernization, integration, and support of enterprise applications. The role ensures technology solutions are secure, scalable and aligned with business objectives while leveraging modern architectures, cloud technologies, AI, automation and digital innovation to improve operational efficiency, user experience and enterprise-wide transformation.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Develop and drive the Application Development strategy by leading application modernization, establishing architecture standards, promoting cloud and API adoption.
• Evaluating emerging technologies and supporting enterprise-wide digital transformation initiatives.
• Lead the design, development, and deployment of enterprise applications using C#, ASP.NET Core, Blazor, React, VB.NET and SQL Server.
• Drive migration of legacy .NET Framework applications to modern .NET platforms.
• Refactor applications into scalable, maintainable and service-oriented architectures.
• Establish development standards, coding practices and technical governance frameworks.
• Ensure application scalability, maintainability and long-term sustainability.
• Provide strategic Level 1 and Level 2 support across enterprise applications.
• Lead incident resolution, root cause analysis and problem management activities.
• Manage application deployments, IIS hosting environments, SSL certificates and production support processes.
• Implement monitoring, observability, alerting and health-check frameworks.
• Drive governance, change management, user adoption and operational excellence initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to leverage AI and intelligent automation across application development and business processes.
• Drive implementation of AI-assisted development, predictive analytics and workflow automation solutions.
• Evaluate emerging technologies to improve productivity, user experience and business outcomes.
• Promote continuous innovation through modern engineering practices and digital technologies.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate or equivalent certification advantageous.
• Microsoft .NET Developer Certification advantageous.
• Certifications in Cloud Architecture, DevOps, AI or Solution Architecture advantageous.
• ITIL Foundation Certification advantageous.
• Agile, Scrum, or Project Management certification.
• 8+ years of experience in enterprise application development, support, systems integration and digital transformation.
• Extensive expertise in C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET Core, Blazor, React, SQL Server, and Microsoft development technologies.
• Proven experience developing solutions across both legacy .NET Framework and modern .NET (.NET Core/.NET 8) environments.
• Strong experience in application modernization, migration, and technology transformation initiatives.
• Advanced SQL Server development expertise, including performance tuning, database optimization, stored procedures, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
• Proven track record delivering enterprise integration solutions through APIs, middleware, and third-party platforms.
• Experience supporting mission-critical business systems in Manufacturing, Mining, Chemical, FMCG, or similar industries.
• Experience managing cloud-based and on-premise application environments.
• Strong understanding of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, application monitoring, observability, cybersecurity, and governance practices.
