Financial Manager: SA Front End

Purpose of the Job
As a key member of the SA Business Unit Team and key business partner, tasked with overseeing all SA front-end related financial activities, financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, planning & analysis, managing risk, implementing policies, and improving financial processes, with a focus on bottom line financial and operational performance, while enhancing shareholder and stakeholder value.

Finance Management:
- Find ways to continuously improve the Finance functions for AECI Mining whilst delivering financial excellence and driving business growth.
- Provide input on commercial decisions through financial feasibility assessments.
- Provide input to Head of Finance Mining: BU’s & Operations, Head of Finance Mining: CA/ RoW and Manco (VP Finance, VP SADC, VP Mining Chemicals) on commercial decisions through financial feasibility assessments.
- Ensure financial disbursements and requests are captured, recorded, summarized, and reported in compliance with AECI policies and procedures.
- Provide in-depth support in the areas of finance management and decision.
- Support decision making (finance related, revenues, financial splits, business cases etc.) on demand requests.
- Review inventory levels and co-ordinate processes to ensure working capital ratios are aligned to inventory policy.
- Support sourcing and procurement processes within business area and review and amend processes when required.
- Receive updated product price information from the Customer and Product and Profitability Manager.
- Ensure pricing information is updated in relevant SAP systems and reports.
Financial Reporting:
- Track and report on progress to financial targets.
- Liaise with internal/external auditors and managing of year-end audit.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Analyse sales volumes, revenue, fixed costs against comparatives.
- Drives aspects of financial reporting related needs and requirements (e.g. budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning, target setting) for AECI Mining SA front-end.
- Presents financial reports to SA Front-end Team, Exco, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure data integrity and consistency of information as well as organized documentation of all financial assumptions, results and data sources used.
- Prepare/review capital expenditure requests for SA front-end business.
- Perform entity reporting of monthly actual results to AECI Mining Group finance providing variance analysis.
- Create journal postings for cost allocations and accruals when necessary/ required.
- Support the reconciliation and reporting on headcount movements within unit and advise corrections to FSSC.
- Monitor master data and advise corrections to FSSC.
- Enable dynamic cross functional reports connecting financial results to operational drivers.
- Analysis to identify optimised approaches to address gaps between planned and actual.
- Participate in performing driver based planning with correlation and cause-effect analysis.
- Assist with the analysis of customer and product profitability.
Risk Management:
- Responsible for financial risk assessments and implementation of appropriate risk management strategies.
- Ensure good governance within AECI Mining.
- Liaise with internal / external auditors and co-ordination of year-end audit and ensure timeous closure of all findings.
- Maintain compliance with policies and procedures and reporting requirements.
- Implement corporate governance procedures, risk management and internal controls.
- Comply with all legislation relating to accounting matters.
- Ensure compliance with SLA criteria (specific to area of responsibility).
- Keep abreast on legal and regulatory issues relating to accounting matters.
- Regular Petty cash checks – ensure compliance.
- Comply with Safety, Health and Environment standards
- Comply to CAPEX policy, in terms of returns/cash flows as well as monitoring of spend against planned and reporting.
Pricing information
- Ensure new pricing data is updated in the SAP system on monthly basis.
- Conduct maintenance and upkeep of the pricing model / method to ensure validity, accuracy and completeness of pricing data and financial results.
- Ensure pricing is accurate and in accordance with the relevant legislation.
- Ensure pricing is up-to-date and is for the correct time period.
- Ensure pricing model has been updated (if required)
Financial Forecasting
- Leads all financial planning and analysis (FP&A), including forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management.
- Ensure alignment on financial performance and the drivers of forecasts and results.
- Builds and manages monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasts.
- Provides financial insights to leadership, leveraging an advanced understanding of budgeting, long-term planning and forecasting at all detailed levels.
- Co-ordinate and perform all finance aspects of the monthly/annual reporting, budgeting and strategic forecasting processes within business through SAP /SAP BW
Inventory and Assets Management
- Accountable for Inventory management across South African business units.
- Ensure all Stock counts are performed monthly.
- Monitor stock levels and cycle count variances.
- Analyze and monitor Cycle count variances and trends on a monthly basis.
- Ensure COGI and Goods in Transit is cleared.
- Monitor production variances, no differences from what the Bill of material states.
- Monitor open Sales order report so that all sales are processed.
- Accountable for asset management across South African business units.

Assist with regular asset verification processes, asset demolishing and asset transfers

Monitor closure of open Expenditure proposals (EP’s) and also closure of all open Demolition EP’s.

Monthly monitoring and tracking of the MMU’s in the business – monitor Costs, RONA and Tons per MMU
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills Requirements
BCom Degree in financial accounting or CMA
Honours’ Degree in Finance, or Post Graduate Diploma in Finance
Minimum 5 to 8 years in Finance-related roles with financial reporting, management, and costing experience in a manufacturing environment
Understanding of mining and/or manufacturing industris
Regulatory, statutory and compliance frameworks affecting area of responsibility
International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
Knowledge on SAP and COGNOS
