PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Responsible for supporting and executing sourcing activities across Engineering, Maintenance, MRO, Capital Projects and Logistics categories within AECI Mining. Drives supplier performance, strategic sourcing initiatives, contract implementation and value delivery while ensuring security of supply, operational reliability and logistics service excellence. Works closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Logistics, Projects, SHEQ and Commercial stakeholders to ensure that engineering goods, services and logistics requirements are sourced competitively, responsibly and in line with business objectives. Accountable for executing sourcing projects, conducting supplier evaluations, supporting contract negotiations, managing supplier performance, identifying cost optimisation opportunities and ensuring compliance with procurement governance requirements.
REQUIRED OUTPUTS: FUNCTIONAL
Strategic Sourcing & Category Execution
- Support development and execution of sourcing strategies for Engineering and Logistics categories
- Execute sourcing initiatives aligned to approved category strategies
- Lead RFx activities, supplier evaluations, bid analysis, and supplier recommendations
- Conduct market intelligence and supplier research to identify opportunities and risks
- Identify alternative suppliers and sourcing options to improve supply continuity
- Monitor market trends, pricing movements, capacity constraints, and industry developments
- Support procurement planning through spend and demand analysis
- Maintain sourcing pipelines and procurement tracking tools
- Conduct ongoing spend analysis, market and supplier research to identify opportunities, risks, and alternative supply sources
- Provide input into Procurement dashboards and tracking tools
- Proactively identify and mitigate supply and commercial risks within assigned categories
- Ensure procurement activities align with operational requirements
Cost Optimization and Value Delivery
- Conduct spend analysis to identify savings opportunities and value improvement initiatives
- Support delivery of procurement savings and value creation targets
- Apply Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) principles in sourcing decisions
- Perform basic cost modelling and commercial analysis
- Support packaging standardisation and specification optimisation initiatives
- Identify opportunities for localisation, supplier development, and operational efficiencies
- Track and report realised savings, avoidance, and value creation benefits
Supplier Relationships Management
- Build and maintain a qualified supplier base for Engineering and Logistics categories
- Support supplier onboarding and qualification processes
- Monitor supplier performance against agreed KPIs
- Lead supplier performance reviews and corrective action follow-up
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers
- Support supplier development and BBBEE objectives where applicable
- Escalate supplier risks and performance issues proactively
Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration
- Partner with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Logistics, Supply Chain, Projects, SHEQ and Commercial stakeholders
- Ensure procurement activities remain aligned with business priorities
- Provide data-driven recommendations to support sourcing decisions
- Support operational requirements through proactive supplier and sourcing management
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes through spend analysis
- Act as a trusted advisor on supplier and sourcing matters within assigned categories
- Promote adherence to procurement policies and governance requirements
Contracts Management
- Support the negotiation and implementation of supplier agreements
- Assist with contract drafting, renewals, extensions, and amendments
- Ensure contract compliance throughout the contract lifecycle
- Monitor contract utilisation and identify improvement opportunities
- Track contract coverage and renewal requirements
- Maintain contract records and documentation
- Ensure compliance with procurement governance, delegated authorities, and company policies
KPIs
- Percentage of spend under contract
- Cost savings and value delivery against targets
- Contract coverage achieved within assigned categories
- Compliance to negotiated agreements
- Compliance to procurement policies and approved vendor lists
- Supplier scorecard performance (quality, OTIF, cost, sustainability)
- Availability of critical engineering materials, services and logistics capacity
- Timely completion of sourcing initiatives
- Successful support of maintenance, shutdown and project procurement milestones.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
- National Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics or related
- Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Chemical Engineering qualification – Essential advantage
- Professional Procurement Qualification (CIPS or equivalent) – Essential advantage
- Postgraduate qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering Management or Business Management – Essential advantage
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience in Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, Category Management, Supplier Management, Logistics Management or Commercial roles
- Experience sourcing engineering equipment, maintenance services, MRO materials, capital project requirements, logistics services and industrial products
- Demonstrated experience supporting RFx processes, supplier negotiations, and contract management
- Experience within mining, manufacturing, explosives, chemical, industrial or logistics environments preferred
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and procurement platforms such as Coupa or Ariba
- Strong analytical, commercial, and stakeholder management capability
- Experience conducting spend analysis and supplier performance assessments
