Purpose of the role

  • To design, develop and deliver underground mining training interventions to enhance the skills and competencies of employees and customers. 
  • To identify training needs, coordinate training sessions, assess the effectiveness of training interventions and ensure that all underground mining employees and customers are equipped with the necessary knowledge to perform their roles effectively.

  • Conduct regular assessments to identify skill gaps and training needs across departments.
  • Collaborate with department heads and managers to ensure training programs are aligned with business objectives.
  • Use performance data, employee feedback, and other metrics to recommend relevant training interventions.
  • Develop and implement training plans and trackers to enable to effective and timely delivery of training intervention.
  • Design and develop training materials (manuals, e-learning modules, presentations) that are engaging and effective.
  • Ensure that all training content complies with industry regulations and company policies.
  • Incorporate a variety of training methods (instructor-led, e-learning, simulations) to cater to different learning styles
  • Ensure that all training processes are in line with country specific legislature and governance.
  • Enables the execution of L&D strategies by supporting the delivery of training programmes
  • Prepare learning and development programme materials, including PowerPoint presentations, handouts and other support materials.
  • Provide support and information for all recruitment related audit requests.
  • Facilitate training sessions, workshops, and seminars, both in-person and virtually, to a range of employees and customers.
  • Ensure that training sessions are interactive and promote active participation.
  • Provide one-on-one coaching and support to employees and customers as needed.
  • Ensure that all training activities and records are compliant with legal, industry and company requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of employee training attendance, certifications and progress.
  • Ensure timely renewal of certifications and mandatory training programs for employees.
  • Keep up to date in respect of talent acquisition system functionality.
  • Monitor, maintain and maintain learning and development programme records, including participant information, programme evaluations, training attendance, and feedback from instructors and participants.
  • Generate reports on training metrics, such as participation rates, completion rates, and training effectiveness indicators.
  • Maintain accurate training records to maximise reporting.
  • Update records on the Learning Management System (LMS) system and training matrices.
  • Support knowledge article/policy/process reviews related to Learning and maintain the Learning knowledge base to ensure it is up to date and set up for the future.
  • Assist in creating individual development plans for employees based on their training needs and career goals.
  • Provide continuous support to employees in their professional development journeys through coaching and mentorship.
  • Help managers in identifying high-potential employees for leadership or specialist training programs
  • Build relationships with managers, employees and external training providers to ensure training effectiveness.
  • Communicate regularly with stakeholders about upcoming training programs and their impact on performance.
  • Support leadership in embedding a learning culture across the organisation.
  • Maintain the data of employees (e.g. trainees) in accordance with the data privacy laws prescribe
  • Deliver training interventions in line with AECI policies and standards
  • Responsible for all regular and ad-hoc reporting of talent acquisition metrics and dashboard presentations in support of talent acquisition team.
  • Participates in recruitment market intelligence gathering, data collection, and analysis.
  • Partner with talent acquisition and other HR partners to develop data models for recruitment.
  • Develop dashboards for the recruiting team on key metrics, such as time to fill, quality-of-hire, cost-per-hire, and effectiveness ratios.
  • Understand, analyse, report on and drive improvements for the talent acquisition systems and related operations.
  • Ensure HC data integrity and record keeping for talent acquisition processes.
  • Provide ongoing reporting and metrics support as needed.
  • Act as an SME and apply knowledge in support of key projects to build talent acquisition reporting and analytics capability.
  • Assist with managing relevant metrics, such as forecasting, budgets, global headcount, off cycle hiring, recruiting successes, diversity initiatives, and ad hoc projects.
  • Ensure that all Stakeholders are well informed regarding training interventions in their areas of responsibility.
  • Provide all Stakeholders with monthly training reports.
  • Ensure that all engagements regarding training with clients are in line with the contract specifications.
  • Ensure that all Vendors used are registered AECI Mining Explosives vendors. All new vendors must follow the vendor application process.

Qualifications, Knowlegde and Skills Requirements:

 

  • Underground Blasting Certificate of Competency or National Rockbreaker Qualification: Underground Hard Rock
  • Higher Certificate in OD ETDP and/or National Diploma in OD ETDP
  • Assessors and Moderators
  • Coach the Learner and/or Certificate in OD ETDP
  • Underground BCP
  • Explosives Engineers
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in an underground mining operations environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Skills Development Act.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act and Explosives Act.
