Purpose of the job
To operate plant and equipment in designated sections in accordance with standard operating procedures
Roles and Responsibilities
- Prepare batch start-up, ensuring plant section safety and proper documentation.
- Manufacture blends in blenders and reaction batches in reactors.
- Strictly adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Communicate accurate information to Team Leaders and Laboratory personnel.
- Safely isolate plant and equipment during maintenance following relevant procedures.
- Stencil polycans and label all packaging containers.
- Load and offload tankers.
- Transfer products to and from storage tanks.
- Monitor effluent levels.
- Manage and separate waste materials.
- Operate a forklift and hoist.
- Conduct risk assessments.
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Chemical Operations NQF 3
- Valid Forklift licence
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a chemical plant
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Must be able to work shifts.
