  1. POSITION DETAILS

 Contract Type: 10 Months Fixed Term Contract

Location: Plutus Project – Khoemacau Copper Mine Site.

 

  1. CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

To assist the MMU Operator and Technical Officer to safely load MMUs and deliver the product on the charging bench. Perform general duties around the work area as directed by the MMU Operator and Technical Officer.

 

  1. SCOPE AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

The core responsibilities and accountabilities include:

  • SHEQ recognition and compliance
  • Housekeeping duties for the Mobile Manufacturing Units (MMU’s) and plant as required by company procedures
  • Adhering to all safety procedures as per the company rules and regulations
  • MMU hose handling during charging
  • On-bench explosives quality checks
  • Be a spotter for the MMU both on and off the bench
  • Assisting the MMU Operator with all the MMU operation related duties
  • Housekeeping in and around the area of responsibility
  • Loading and offloading of explosives at the magazines
  • Assisting the maintenance team during MMU breakdowns, calibrations and services

  1. KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES

The incumbent should have at least the following:

  • At least a Cambridge O’ Level/ BGCE certificate or equivalent
  • At least two years’ experience in a Prime, Load, Tie and Shoot (PLTS) Open Pit environment
  • Valid Class B Driver’s license
  • Possession of Class C Driver’s License is an added advantage
  • Valid Open Pit Blasting License
  • Botswana Citizen
  • Must be fluent in both Setswana and English
  • Knowledge of and experience in AECI products is an added advantage
  • Experience in open pit mining
