Overseeing a range of specialist functions in delivering on committed AECI – Mining Water business growth and strategic targets & objectives. Role serve as a trusted technical advisor, enhancing customer value through expert support in Mineral processing applications, driving operational performance, supporting SHEQ compliance, enabling business development, and contributing to innovation and product improvement, thereby positioning AECI Water as a preferred partner in sustainable Mineral process Improvement solutions.

 

A Technical Specialist bridges the gap between complex metallurgical science and AECI Water’s Technical process solutions. He/she will be expected to heavily rely on engineering expertise, Metallurgical experience  to solve client problems and recommend exact material specifications.


Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Consultation: Analyze client blueprints, develops and optimizes unit operations in the hydro met, leaching, solvent extraction (SX), and ion exchange needs, and operational challenges to come up with the best approach.
  • Business Development: Secure service agreements, and long-term process specialty chemical or reagent supplies in the Mining Industry in Northwestern Province of Zambia while maintaining strong relationships within existing customer base.
  • Product Demonstrations: Run lab, pilot plant and full plant trials where required while driving our value generation approach to solution generation.
  • Contract Negotiation: Formulate sales proposals, negotiate pricing contracts for Mining reagents and manage supply chain timelines.
  • Customer Claim Support: Act as the technical liaison between our Mining clients and AECI Water, diagnosing any process Improvement metallurgical issue and providing value delivery solutions.

Core Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: A minimum 5 years post graduate experience, a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a highly related technical discipline is typically required.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of physical/extractive metallurgy and laboratory work required.
  • Auditing & Troubleshooting: Conducts technical stage-gate reviews, risk assessments, and plant audits to resolve operational bottlenecks
  • Testing & Piloting: Oversees laboratory testwork, scale-up modeling, and pilot plant operations to ensure continuous, dynamic plant efficiency
  • Sales Mindset: Strong commercial acumen, relationship management skills, and a proactive attitude toward closing long-cycle industrial contracts.
  • Market Focus: Target mining houses within your area of responsibility focussed on copper and gold processing applications.
  • Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel frequently to all Mining sites in Northwestern Province a must
