Purpose of the Job

Tasked with overseeing all financial activities, reporting on revenue, training accounting staff, budgeting, disbursing funds to departments, managing risk, implementing policies, and improving financial processes

 

Required outputs: Functional

 

Finance Management

  • Manage the Finance functions for AECI Mining
  • Find ways to continuously improve the Finance functions for AECI Mining whilst delivering financial excellence and driving business growth
  • Provide input on commercial decisions through financial feasibility assessments
  • Provide input to VP Finance Mining and Exco on commercial decisions through financial feasibility assessments
  • Ensure financial disbursements and requests are captured, recorded, summarized, and reported in compliance with AECI policies and procedures
  • Provide in-depth support in the areas of finance management and decision

Risk Management

  • Responsible for financial risk assessments and implementation of appropriate risk management strategies
  • Ensure good governance within AECI Mining
  • Liaise with internal / external auditors and co-ordination of year-end audit
  • Maintain compliance with policies and procedures and reporting requirements.

Stakeholder Management

  • Strengthening collaboration and coordination with internal and external providers of financial and consulting services
  • Analyse feedback from key stakeholders and implements improvement measures as a result of feedback
  • Partner with business and relevant teams to ensure alignment on financial performance and the drivers of forecasts and results
  • Build and maintain relationships with relevant business stakeholders to ensure awareness of the latest deals’ timelines, risks/opportunities, and to quickly mitigate or leverage them respectively
  • Provide advisory and guidance to business on budgets structuring, of their approved budgets and forecasts, and their commitment to budget/forecast on a continuous basis.

Financial Forecasting

  • Leads all financial planning and analysis (FP&A), including forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management
  • Ensure alignment on financial performance and the drivers of forecasts and results
  • Builds and manages monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasts
  • Provides financial insights to leadership, leveraging an advanced understanding of budgeting, long-term planning and forecasting at all detailed levels

Financial Reporting

  • Track and report on progress to financial targets
  • Liaise with internal/external auditors and managing of year-end audit
  • Review budgets/forecast
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Drives aspects of financial reporting related needs and requirements (e.g. budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning, target setting) for AECI Mining pillar
  • Presents financial reports to executives, board members, investors, and other stakeholders
  • Ensure data integrity and consistency of information as well as organized documentation of all financial assumptions, results and data sources used

People Management

  • Able to meet deadlines with a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Oversees and reviews accounting tasks, including payroll, taxes, and compliance
  • Build a strong and cohesive team by recruiting top talent and creating an inclusive and efficient work environment

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills Requirements

 

  • Post Graduate Honours Degree in Finance
  • Minimum 10 years in Finance-related roles with reporting experience
  • Understanding of Chemical industries
  • Regulatory, statutory and compliance frameworks affecting area of responsibility
  • International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Financial policies, procedures, and processes
  • Management Accounting
