User Experience Designer

Purpose of the job: Conduct comprehensive research, design, and optimization of system applications and products to improve usability and deliver exceptional user experiences across the DetNet product range. Utilize expertise in human-computer interaction (HCI) elements and UX design principles to refine both mobile and PC software applications and physical system requirements.
Required outputs: Functional:
- Produce creative and innovative design solutions that deliver a world-class user experience.
- Leverage insights and data, such as market analysis, customer feedback, user research, and analytics to ensure that products/services/solutions are designed around the user to deliver a first-rate experience.
- Design and develop User Interfaces by providing specialised input into the User Experience Design Phase.
- Conduct in-depth user research through site visits and customer interviews to understand the user’s pains, gains, and needs.
- Perform and document product/system analysis by creating user personas and stories.
- Identify potential product shortcomings from a user’s perspective.
- Create processes and paths to steer users to complete their desired tasks easily.
- Construct Wireframes to be handed over to the Visual Designer.
- Conduct usability studies and tests on products and systems.
- Adapt designs based on feedback from end users, stakeholders, and design leaders.
- Champion the importance of human-centred design and advocate for users in all products and systems.
- Align the user interface design to the relevant design standards and brand guidelines to ensure a consistent experience across DetNet’s product range.
- Create intuitive and useful solutions to solve the problems users face with Embedded, Web, Mobile, and Desktop Applications.
Requirements: Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant B-Com, B-Sc or B-IT or equivalent.
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in a User Experience Design environment.
- Knowledge of Human-Computer Interactions and principles is necessary.
- Theoretical knowledge and practical understanding of User Experience and User Interface design principles.
- Understanding of the broader UX design topics such as information architecture, psychology, emotional design, interaction design, and visual design.
- Knowledge of Adobe XD or Figma design studios.
- CorelDRAW & Adobe Photoshop knowledge is advantageous.
- Software Engineering Development lifecycle knowledge is advantageous.
- Ability to travel locally and internationally (valid passport).
