Technical Officer

Purpose of the Job

To provide Technical Services to Operations with respect to Process Technology, Manufacturing and Systems Engineering as to entrench and uphold AECI Mining Explosives quality and process capability systems

Roles and Responsibilities

• Manage and facilitate change management
• Supporting technology transfer of new & existing processes within the site
• Work with plants and sections to improve the compliance to ISO 9001
• Leading and participating in continuous improvement projects
• Technical data reporting and technical report writing
• Investigate and report on Internal/External customer complaints and process investigations
• Provide technical support opposite all production facilities and process technologies with regards to experimental design and experimental testing,
• Develop and maintain a framework of measurements that support early problem detection and identification of process deviations
• Assist with the development and implementation of training sessions on Technical Process Management
• Completing assigned tasks to support manufacture of quality products
• Supporting and coaching other team members to build capability within the team environment
• Comply with Safety, Health and Environmental standards

Qualifications and Experience

• Matric
• National Diploma/ BTech in Chemical / Industrial / Mechanical
• 2-5 years’ experience in manufacturing environment (preferably explosives manufacturing)
• Working knowledge of all legal and safety requirements, e.g. Explosives Act, OHS Act, and Factory / Departmental Regulations
• Knowledge and understanding of Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing,
• Problem Solving methodologies
• Process Capability Studies
• Knowledge of good explosive practices is necessary
• Drivers Licence
• Mechanical/Electrical/ Metrology/Polymer
