Shift Manager

The incumbent is responsible for leading a team of Machine Operators  in the manufacture of high volume, low-cost, high-quality explosives products. The incumbent is responsible for facilitating, coordinating and improving operational functions across all disciplines on a specific shift in a designated explosives area. This job is a combination of leadership of a team and production management on a shift. This is an improver role with the incumbent required to effect continuous incremental improvements to shift performance.

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION/TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:

•  A minimum qualification of a Management Diploma
• At least 5 years relevant experience in a manufacturing or production environment. A technical orientation would be advantageous.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE / COMPETENCIES

•  Technical knowledge (from practical experience) of specific machines in area.
•  Working knowledge of SHE requirements in respect of an explosives manufacturing environment.
•  Operational problem solving abilities.
• Knowledge of manufacturing systems.
• Leadership and team building skills.
• Computer literacy.
