Process Engineer: FEED & Project Controls Support

The purpose of the role is to provide process engineering and Project Control support on Group projects, which includes the following:

 

  • Define project scope and objectives to establish clear deliverables and alignment with business requirements.
  • Conduct prefeasibility and feasibility studies to assess technical, financial, and operational viability.
  • Lead the design and development of process engineering packages from concept through detailed engineering, commissioning, and handover, including the integration of process safety requirements into design.
  • Manage the execution and commissioning of projects to ensure safe, timely, and costeffective delivery.
  • Develop and maintain project standards, processes, and procedures to consistently improve execution effectiveness.
  • Lead and/or participate in Gate Reviews to ensure compliance with governance requirements and project readiness.
  • Provide project controls and methodological support in alignment with the Capital Project Portfolio and Project Management Governance Guidelines.

 

 

Roles and Responsibilities

 

  • Undertake and participate in concept, prefeasibility, and feasibility studies, collaborating with senior engineers, internal stakeholders, and EPCM partners to deliver complex feasibility assessments and innovative project designs.
  • Develop comprehensive process engineering packages from concept through detailed design. Deliverables include mass and energy balances, process flow diagrams, P&IDs, process design criteria, process descriptions, control philosophy narratives, datasheets, and scopes of work, with proven application of the stagegate process (SG1 to SG4).
  • Prepare execution, precommissioning, and commissioning plans.
  • Provide technical support during plant installation, precommissioning, and commissioning activities.
  • Develop process and project handover documentation to ensure smooth transition to operations.
  • Facilitate and participate in HAZOP studies and multidisciplinary design reviews.
  • Collaborate closely with C&I, electrical, piping, and mechanical engineering disciplines to generate accurate processrelated specifications and deliverables. 
  • Optimize existing processes by applying value engineering and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Prepare comprehensive process documentation—including detailed reports, PFDs, P&IDs, operating procedures, and related processpackage deliverables to ensure clarity, smooth execution, and seamless handover.
  • Adhere to systematic documentcontrol processes to manage revisions of design and engineering documentation from concept stage through AFC (Approved for Construction) to final handover
  • Facilitate multidisciplinary squad checks for process and projectrelated documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment across engineering disciplines.
  • Support the project manager in preparing the project handover pack and contributing to the project closeout process
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues by collaborating across engineering, scientific, and management teams to share insights, resolve issues, and align on project objectives
  • Present technical findings and recommendations clearly and concisely to stakeholders, including management, clients, and regulatory bodies
  • Prepare both technical and business reports to support project decisionmaking and performance tracking.
  • Support in the facilitation of the annual capital project budgeting process
  • Support group projects with the development and roll out of governance processes, standards and procedures 
  • Undertake and/or participate in Gate Reviews
  • Provide project control support to business pertaining to project methodology and process as per the Capital project portfolio and project management governance guidelines
  • Support with the development of project budgets, schedules and  execution strategies
  • Maintain alignment with project teams, business unit objectives, and relationships with contractors, suppliers, internal and external stakeholders.
  • Evaluate and assess project risks and contingency plans in addition to process safety related risk management.
  • Regularly report on project progress, status, challenges and outcomes to stakeholders.
  • Manage the completion of deliverables for multiple projects.
  • Manage process development and optimization projects efficiently from planning, scheduling to execution, within budget and in line with timelines.

 

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical engineering 
  • HAZOP facilitation certification 
  • Minimum of 2 years’, and up to 5 years’ experience in process design and project controls
  • In depth experience of undertaking technical studies, and develops process packages for multiple projects
  • Engagement with diverse internal, external and international stakeholders.
