Purpose of the Job
To be involved in the development, validation, and execution of analytical methods according to SOP’s and ISO/IEC 17025: 2017 Standards to ensure product quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. Act as technical expert using instrumentation to solve problems, mentor junior staff, and drive innovation in laboratory processes. Act as a Subject Matter Expert in troubleshooting and operating advanced analytical instruments. Ensure laboratory data integrity and compliance with GLP, ISO/IEC 17025: 2017, and internal requirements, maintaining documentation for regulatory submissions. Investigate out-of-specification or out-of-trend results, providing corrective actions.
Provide technical guidance to junior analysts.
Required outputs: Functional
Technical Analysis: Perform routine and non-routine analysis on samples according to SOPs, method standards, and ISO 17025 protocols.
Quality Management: Ensure compliance with 17025 requirements, including documenting proficiency tests, method validation, and managing non-conformances.
Equipment Care: Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instrumentation (e.g., ICP-OES, LIMS, Discrete Analyzer, Auto Titrator, GC, etc).
Documentation: Accurately record, report, and interpret results in LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).
Sample Management: Receive, log, prepare, and store samples while ensuring chain of custody.
Safety & Compliance: Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations, Company standards and maintain laboratory cleanliness.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills Requirements
- Diploma or Advanced Diploma or BTech, or BSc in Analytical Chemistry.
- 3 - 7 years of experience in a lab, with specific experience in an accredited (SANAS/ISO 17025) facility. Strong understanding of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and ISO 17025 standards.
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, LIMS proficiency, ability to troubleshoot equipment, and develop verified analytical methods.
- Strong comprehension skills in chemistry which require an ability to apply knowledge to new scenarios. Deep understanding of chemistry fundamentals and specialized analytical techniques.
- Experience operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining complex laboratory instruments. Ability to develop, test, and validate new analytical methods and improve existing ones.
- Maintaining meticulous records, creating reports, and communicating results clearly to stakeholders.
- Commitment to data integrity, calibration, and QC procedures.
- Strict adherence to safety standards, including hazard assessment and proper chemical handling.
