AECI Plant Health is looking for a suitably qualified Ferti Liquids Plant Operator at the Company's Modderfontein site to ensure effective operation of blending reactors and associated equipment. The role will focus on the production of various grades of fertilizer products in compliance with safety, quality, and production requirements; as well as the loading and offloading of bulk tankers. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for producing various products in line with production demand and specifications.
  • Ensure adherence to instructions from the Team Leader regarding low strength fertilizer quantities and blending procedures.
  • Operate and monitor multiple blending reactors and tanks, ensuring all machinery is maintained in a safe and functional condition.
  • Maintains strict compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards.
    Report all breakdowns, unsafe conditions, and deviations promptly to the Team Leader.
  • Meet production and quality targets as specified by Team Leader.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order within assigned work areas at all times.
  • Required to work in other areas as directed by the Team Leader, e.g. work in the Urea plant or carry out material handling functions at Powders.
  • Required to assist with stocktakes, dip and record S.G. of product daily.
  • Uphold and work according to all internal and external safety guidelines.
  • Check concentration of the product by regularly measuring the S.G. of the liquid in the rectors and complete log sheet.
  • Responsible for offloading liquid fertilizer and loading finished products into bulk tankers, including after-hours duties.
  • Responsible for completing all required safety and compliance documents for bulk and dangerous goods deliveries and dispatching.
  • Responsible for using and other production resources efficiently and responsibly.
  • Must have an understanding of SHEQ Management Systems standards/requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • A diploma/certificate in chemical plant operations related courses advantageous.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience.
  • Required to drive a forklift, be medically fit to drive a forklift and be in possession of a valid forklift driver’s license.
  • Required to maintain medical fitness to drive a forklift in order to have the forklift driver’s license renewed.
  • Computer literate with basic computer skills
  • Ability to work alone as well as within a team
