Job Purpose
To design, develop, and deliver effective training and development programs for employees at the Nitrates Plant, ensuring enhancement of technical skills, safety awareness, operational competence, and overall workforce capability in alignment with plant objectives and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and implement structured training programs (technical, safety, operational and behavioral) for employees.
- Conduct Training Need Analysis (TNA) by coordinating with stakesholders.
- Design and develop training materials (manuals, e-learning modules, presentations, SOP based learning material) and assessment tools specific to Nitrates plant operations.
- Coordinate internal and external training sessions, workshops, certifications and on-the-job training programs.
- Deliver classroom training, safety inductions and refresher programs as per plant requirements.
- Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, feedback, skill audits and performance indicators.
- Maintain training records, competency matrices, certification status and statutory training compliance documentation.
- Developing individual developmental plans for employees.
- Ensure continuous improvement of training content based on process changes, incidents, audits and new technologies.
- Coordinate with plant leadership to ensure training aligns with production targets, safety standards and quality objectives.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of nitrates plant operations, chemical processes, and safety systems.
- Knowledge of industrial training methodologies and adult learning principles.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to assess competency gaps and recommend appropriate training solutions.
- Familiarity with statutory and safety training requirements in chemical/process industries.
- Analytical skills to evaluate training effectiveness and performance outcomes.
- Proficiency in documentation, reporting, and training record management.
Educational Qualification
- Matric / Grade 12.
- Chemical Operations NQF4 and National diploma in Chemical Engineering (Must)
- Higher Certificate in ODETDP
- Must be a qualified Assessor
Experience
- 3 - 5 years of experience as a Technical Trainer in a Chemical Manufacturing/Processing plant
- Proficiency with MS Office suite at an advanced level (must)
