Purpose of the Job
To enable delivery of the Group strategy and Mining priorities by establishing, managing and delivering robust governance and assurance processes, systems and practices in accordance with applicable legislation, Policies and Standards in support of promoting sustainable operations.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Contribute to the formulation and execution of the Mining S & EHS priorities.
- Define safety governance and assurance priorities and metrics.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable legal and corporate requirements, e.g. OHS Act, MHS Act, Company Standards and Integrated Management Systems (IMS).
- Develop and manage a comprehensive document management system and repository for all safety related data, reports, statistics, etc.
- Facilitate all administrative requirements e.g. legal appointments, schedules, finding tracking and closure, Committee meetings, etc.
- Co-ordinate safety campaigns and communication for Modderfontein.
- Facilitate management reviews, internal audits, third party audits and closure of findings.
- Oversee the capturing and collation of data for the compilation of applicable Reports.
- Facilitate the safety vetting of all contractors and suppliers on the Vendor database.
- Manage own and team performance.
- Enable a high-performance work climate.
- Support health, environmental and quality interventions.
- Knowledge of and experience with the appropriate project management tools to deliver successful projects on behalf of the company.
- Facilitate incident investigations.
- Lead / participate continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Management or equivalent.
- A Management Diploma.
- Minimum 7 - 10 years' experience in safety management and auditing (preferably in chemical manufacturing).
- An understanding and participation in process safety management.
- An understanding and participation in contractor safety management.
- Ability to collate, consolidate, prepare and present Reports e.g. performance, investigation, etc.
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and any other related safety, health and environment legislation and systems.
- Process and system optimisation / improvement to enable smarter working.
