Purpose of the job: To design and enhance electronic products—specifically within blasting systems and detonator technologies—through continuous innovation, applied research, and the integration of emerging and existing technologies, to deliver safe, reliable blasting solutions and create long-term value for stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design electronic circuits and systems based on detailed specifications
  • Build and test prototypes to validate functionality and performance
  • Ensure product reliability in real-world operating environments
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, software, production) for integration and efficient manufacturing
  • Develop production-ready designs with a focus on consistency, cost-effectiveness, and DFM principles
  • Support EMC compliance, safety standards, and regulatory requirements throughout the design process
  • Design or contribute to test equipment and validation processes
  • Document designs thoroughly according to internal and industry standards
  • Provide post-deployment technical support and address field issues
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous process improvement

Requirements:
Qualifications and expertise required:

  • B.Eng (Electronics) / BSc Engineering (Electronics) or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in:
    • Analog and digital circuit design knowledge
    • Embedded system design and programming advantageous
    • Industrialization and product development of electronic systems
  • Strong understanding of both hardware and software integration
  • Proficient in C/C++ programming, especially for embedded applications
  • Experience with PCB design; Altium Designer skills are highly advantageous
  • Working knowledge of microcontrollers, FPGAs, and digital signal processing (DSP)
  • Familiarity with communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, Ethernet)
  • Skilled in circuit simulation and analysis tools (e.g., LTSpice, PSpice, MATLAB)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical schematics and datasheets
  • Experience in design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for testability (DFT)
  • Understanding of EMC/EMI compliance and relevant industry standards
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN)
  • Comfortable using laboratory test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analysers, spectrum analysers, multi-meters, etc.)
  • Exposure to product certification and regulatory compliance processes is a plus
  • Working knowledge of RF design and principles, including antenna integration and RF layout considerations
