Main Purpose of Role
To safely and efficiently operate the Explosive Mobile Manufacturing Unit, performing on bench blast hole charging on time in full as required by the customer. The job also entails performing frontline maintenance on the MMU to ensure machine reliability. The position will be based in Swakopmund however applicants must be willing to relocate to other sites in Namibia.
Core Responsibilities
- Safely operate an MMU for charging purposes, as per the company’s Operating Instruction
- Product delivery to the bench On-Time-In-Full
- Full implementations of the charging plans
- MMU Housekeeping
- Safety, Health, Environment and Quality standards implementation and compliance
- Compliance to the regulatory and statutory requirements
- Adherence to the customer’s traffic management system/plan
- Assist the maintenance team during MMU breakdowns, calibrations and services
- Accurate recording of the charged quantities and safe keeping of the Blast Reports and MMU Logs
- MMU Pre-start checks and fault reporting
- On-bench conditions assessments prior to charging
Qualifications and Experience Requirements
- At least a Grade12 certificate or equivalent
- In possession of a valid Code CE or C Driver’s license is a MUST (please attach a copy of your driver’s license to your application)
- The applicants must be able to obtain a Medical certificate from Medixx, Police Certificate of Good Conduct and a PrDP
- At least 2 years’ experience in operation of a Heavy Duty Vehicle (HDV)
- Open Pit or/and underground Blasting Licence is an added advantage
- Be a Namibian Citizen
- Knowledge of and experience in AECI electronic blasting products is an added advantage
- Experience in an open pit and underground mine is an added advantage
- Blasting technical knowledge
