Imports & Exports Team Leader

Location: Gauteng (Chloorkop)

Purpose of the job

To ensure imports & exports team administer the internal sales function of AECI Specialty Chemicals by maintaining a guaranteed efficient service to all customers (internal and external) thereby ensuring continued customer satisfaction. As well as verifies and maintains records of Imports and Exports of orders (in bound and out bound) in a warehouse or distribution centre and prepares goods for despatch internationally. Ensuring a smooth and cost-effective shipping services (imports and exports) 

Required Outputs Functions

• Liaises with nominated freight agent to acquire shipping dates
• All customer (internal and external) complaints to be resolved within current working day and escalated to line manager for assistance.

• All freight charges on exports need to be recovered and if not have a valid reason. All import charges to be monitored as per shipping rate card for Shipping line or agent.

• Ensuring export invoicing and accounts documentation is accurate and correct
• All orders need to be processed in full and any issues regarding accounts or pricing need to be communicated and corrected
• Provide input an, rates and value inputs with regards to imports and exports environment
• Implementation, maintenance and measuring SOP’s and SLA’s with suppliers
• Ensuring correct tariff Headings are used and all VAT and duties are correctly paid over as well as ensuring all documentation is filled and accessible for audit purposes
• All export orders to be processed and finalised within the month placed if possible, taking into account stock availability and shipping constraints.
• Ensuring all processes and procedures are reviewed and improved as well as implementing cost and time saving methods
• Creating and implementing shipping policies and procedures

• Negotiating the price of shipment transportation with carriers. Keeping shipping operations within budget without compromising speed or efficiency
• Hiring, training, and supervising shipping employees as well as the in-house team . Ensuring all shipping targets and service levels are met.

Requirements: Qualifications and Experience

• Grade 12
• BCom Logistics or similar
• Import and Export experience
• Incoterms 2020®, laws and regulations applicable to Freight Forwarding and importation
• 5-6 Years Experience in International trade, Import/Export/Shipping activities preferably in Chemicals Industry
• Knowledge across all the disciplines of Supply Chain Management
• 5-6 Years Experience in shipping Dangerous goods and Chemicals
• Proficiency MS Office suite and Navision/SAP
