Financial Accountant

AECI Plant Health is seeking a suitably qualified Financial Accountant to ensure accurate, timeous and compliant financial accounting and reporting for the division. The role is responsible for month-end processes, internal and external reporting, and maintaining the integrity of financial records in line with regulatory and governance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• To ensure timeous processing of journals and month end completion in Syspro.
• To ensure timeous COGNOS submissions to AECI for month end.
• To ensure AECI VAT and Treasury submissions are submitted by the deadline. 
• To facilitate COGNOS submissions timeously on a monthly basis.
• Close off General Ledger and integrate timeously
• Ensure integrity of Master Data within the General Ledger.
• Preparation of the VAT return within allocated timeframe.
• Preparation of monthly treasuring confirmation.
• Assist in the preparation and submission of budget and forecast submissions ensuring that they are submitted within the timeframe and ensuring accuracy of the data being submitted.
• Assist with the preparation of the internal and external audit process.
• To keep abreast on legal and regulatory issues relating to accounting matters.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 with a B.Com degree or equivalent.
• 3–5 years’ relevant experience in a financial accounting environment.
• Working knowledge of Syspro and strong MS Office proficiency.
• Sound understanding of accounting principles, tax and statutory requirements.
• Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, meet strict deadlines and engage at multiple organisational levels.
• Valid driver’s licence and own reliable transport.
