Inventory Controller
Department: Supply Chain
Reporting to: Agent Sales & Commercial Services Manager
AECI Plant Health is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Inventory Controller to join the team. This role is critical in ensuring accurate inventory management, reconciliation, reporting, and compliance across depots and warehouses.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining inventory integrity, supporting audits, resolving stock discrepancies, and driving continuous improvement in inventory control processes.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Control & Reconciliation
- Perform monthly inventory reconciliations between systems (e.g. Syspro) and the General Ledger
- Investigate and resolve stock variances across warehouses
- Process stocktake variances, stock adjustments, and charge-outs
- Monitor and report on inventory metrics (e.g. goods in transit, open orders)
- Oversee and participate in stocktakes and cycle counts
Operational Support
- Provide daily support to depots and agents on inventory queries
- Manage depot openings and closures, including system setup
- Maintain inventory master data and stock codes
- Follow up on aged stock and obsolete inventory
Systems & Data Management
- Maintain and support Syspro and .NET systems
- Set up warehouses and product linkages
- Ensure accurate master data management
Audit & Compliance
- Support internal and external audits
- Ensure compliance with inventory control policies and procedures
- Assist with balance sheet reconciliations and month-end processes
Training & Continuous Improvement
- Identify training needs within depots
- Facilitate and coordinate training for depot personnel
- Maintain and improve standard operating procedures
SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment & Quality)
- Adhere to all SHEQ requirements and company policies
- Promote a strong safety culture and report incidents
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent
- Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, Inventory Management, Logistics, Finance, or related field (advantageous)
Experience
- 3–5 years’ experience in inventory control, warehousing, or financial/accounting environment
- Experience in stock reconciliations and inventory reporting
- Exposure to agrochemical industry (advantageous)
Technical Skills
- Strong MS Office skills (especially Excel)
- Working knowledge of Syspro
- Understanding of inventory accounting and controls
Other Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Willingness to work outside normal working hours when required
