CORE PURPOSE OF JOB
To coordinate the product ordering, manufacturing, charging, blasting and safety of workers under direct supervision and across the site. Liaise with the customer to effectively plan for production aligned to the customer needs and expectations.
SCOPE AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
The core responsibilities and accountabilities include:
- Supervise and coordinate the emulsion manufacturing, charging, blasting and related activities
- Supervise the PLTS Blasting, Emulsion Manufacturing and MMU Operation teams
- Explosives Magazine Management
- Compile quarterly explosives returns
- Manage explosives in order to plan effectively in short term
- Submission of magazine returns to Site Manager
- Explosives usage reconciliation
- Preparation of explosives demand forecast
- Preparation of relevant reports
- Explosives quality control
- Customer relationship management
- Liaise with the maintenance team on maintenance issues related to mobile and fixed plants
- Implement MMU calibration schedule
- Management of explosives and raw materials stock
- Management of the SHEQ function and ensure legal and statutory compliance
- Implementation and enforcement of governance, policies and procedures.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES
The incumbent should have at least the following:
- A Diploma in Mining Engineering or Mining-related discipline
- Six (6) years’ experience in an open pit mining blasting operations or related industry, at least three (3) of which are at the same or Blasting Foreman level
- An Explosives Engineer’s Certificate is an added advantage
- Be in possession of a valid driver’s License
- Be a Botswana Citizen
- ERB Registration
- Be in possession of a valid Open Pit Blasting License
- Must be fluent in both Setswana and English
- Good understanding of the Explosives Act and, the Mines, Works, Quarries and Machinery Act (MQWM) and other relevant legislative requirements
- Knowledge of and experience in AECI products and/or certificate in any of AECI technical training is an added advantage
