Purpose of the Job

 

To provide Engineering expertise, control and co-ordination of Engineering Maintenance, World Class, SHE, Training and field breakdown support services to plants and Mobile Manufacturing Units (MMU’s).

 

Roles and Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure that scheduled and routine maintenance on Trucks and LDV’s, machinery and equipment are conducted.
  • Perform engineering inspections, identify problem areas and implement pro-active maintenance and plant improvement corrective action.
  • Optimise vehicle reliability by continually improving the preventative maintenance system through the identification of opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide appropriate and adequate feedback and input to the Engineering Manager with respect to plant condition, spares and scheduling requirements, and repairs carried out.
  • Perform safety and health inspections and implement corrective action.
  • Ensure that housekeeping on plant, site and all subsidiary equipment is up to standard.
  • Ensure availability of a fleet of MMU’s, distribution plant and associated in-pit vehicles.
  • The position is responsible for maintaining a fast field support service to Plants; MMU’s and associated equipment at the mine.
  • The position will manage and consolidate all contractor work.
  • The position might be required to assist in other regions.
  • Assist MMU Controllers with calibration on their respected MMU’s.

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Engineering Technician T3, with at least 2 years’ experience or N5 with at least 5 years’ experience at a supervisory level in engineering maintenance field.
  • Must have a working knowledge of the OHS act and regulations.
  • Experience in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, Hydraulic Systems and have demonstrated competence in PLC and microprocessor control systems and with electro-mechanical and electro-hydraulic interfaces.
  • Must be in possession of a valid driver’s licence and be able to pass a driver assessment.
  • Must be a qualified artisan.
