PLC OPERATOR

Production Department – Burgersdorp

AECI Animal Health invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of PLC Operator, reporting to the Production Manager.

Purpose of the Role

To ensure the safe and efficient operation and monitoring of processes, systems, and equipment on the PLC within the production plants, while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, productivity, and environmental compliance.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Ensuring daily production targets are achieved.
  • Operating plant control systems, including the WEM and Factory Portal systems.
  • Monitoring process parameters and ensuring they remain within prescribed limits.
  • Compiling shift reports and batch documentation.
  • Reporting process, quality, and safety deviations to the Production Supervisor.
  • Assisting with troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintaining high housekeeping and cross-contamination prevention standards.
  • Adhering to all SHEQ policies, procedures, and management system requirements.
  • Responding to hazardous conditions and emergency situations when required.
  • Relieving the Production Supervisor when necessary.
  • Working shifts as required by the business.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 or NQF Equivalaent. 
  • Diploma in Chemical Engineering or a related field will be advantageous.
  • Minimum 1–2 years' experience in a chemical manufacturing environment or similar operation will be advantageous.
  • Computer literacy with a sound working knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience in root cause analysis and Process Safety Management (PSM) will be advantageous.
  • Willingness and ability to work shifts.
