Production Team Leader

AECI Plant Health is seeking a suitably qualified Production Team Leader to supervise the production activities at the Company's Modderfontein production plant. This further includes safety, health, environment; quality (SHEQ), receipt and issuing of raw materials; and supervision of subordinates.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for ensuring that the weekly production programme and targets are achieved.
- Checks in advance of scheduled production the availability of raw materials and packaging material.
- Monitors production output and raw material usages.
- In liaison with the Production Superintendent/Manager to determine the order of production to ensure adequate stock cover and optimum plant utilisation.
- Supervise production and loading activities.
- Ensures that labour is utilised effectively especially when production demands fluctuate.
- Responsible for controlling consumable costs.
- Evaluates, in conjunction with the Production Superintendent/Manager, the need to work overtime.
- To have a sound knowledge of the plants and processes under ones control.
- Advises when to arrange further deliveries of bulk raw materials.
- Responsible for controlling the offloading and issue of bulk stocks pertaining to the plants under ones supervision.
- Responsible for plant activities over weekends when required on weekend duty.
- Required to respond and document hazardous conditions and emergencies.
- To ensure total compliance and adherence to all SHEQ rules and regulations
- Ensure accurate and honest reporting of incidents, near misses and safety hazards.
- To record non-conformance incidents and attend weekly meetings in this regard.
- To have a basic understanding of the Process Safety Management
- To ensure that for bulk tanker loads, the tankers are weighed correctly and that the necessary safety requirements and dispatch systems are adhered to.
- Required to work shifts.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 with a Diploma in Chemical Engineering or related fields
- A Diploma / certificate in first line management would be advantageous
- Minimum of 5 years in a chemical manufacturing plant is essential
- Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience is essential
- Process Safety Management (PSM) experience is essential
- Project management experience would be advantageous.
- Basic knowledge of the OHSAct, NEMA and all relevant regulations.
- Must possess basic computer literacy (i.e. MS Office: Excel/Word/Outlook)
