Machine Operator

Performing various packaging activities on different packing lines, including:

• Filling containers, drums and bags
• Weighing products
• Closing and sealing packages
• Labelling products
• Packing products into cartons
• Preparing packaging materials and equipment for production runs
• Assisting with cleaning and decontamination activities, including draining and cleaning vessels and pipes and unblocking pipes where required.
• Operating packaging and filling equipment safely and efficiently.
• Monitoring packaging operations and reporting downtime resulting from material shortages, equipment breakdowns or other disruptions to the Team Leader.
• Maintaining good housekeeping standards within designated work areas.
• Following instructions and operational requirements as communicated by the Team Leader.
• Reporting equipment breakdowns, deviations and packaging line issues promptly.
• Assisting with problem-solving activities and supporting continuous operational efficiency.
• Reporting non-conformance issues such as spillages, packaging defects and off-specification products.
• Ensuring the correct quantity and type of packaging materials are collected from stores and appropriately recorded on job cards.
• Meeting production packaging targets as specified by the Team Leader.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum of Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
• Valid forklift driver's licence.
• Medically fit to operate a forklift.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
• Sound knowledge of production and packaging processes.
• Ability to work accurately and effectively under pressure.
• 3 to 6 months' experience in a production and/or packaging environment.
• Minimum of 6 months' forklift driving experience.
