Electrical Apprentice

AECI Plant Health is seeking a dedicated and safety‑conscious Electrical Apprentice to join its Maintenance team in Lilianton, Boksburg. This individual will support the maintenance, installation, and repair of electrical equipment across the plant while completing the theoretical and practical requirements of an accredited apprenticeship programme. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, technically inclined, and committed to developing a strong foundation in the electrical trade.
Key Responsibilities
General & Installation Work
- Assist with new and upgraded installations, including building electrical wiring and AC 3‑phase motors.
- Carry out ad hoc tasks within competence as instructed by the Electrician or Maintenance Team Leader.
- Report faulty appliances, damaged equipment, and any electrical irregularities.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, rules, and regulations.
Maintenance Support
- Assist in breakdown maintenance of electrical equipment.
- Support testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
- Use electrical testing equipment, hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
- Assist with preventative maintenance activities.
- Perform general housekeeping duties in the workshop and plant.
- Help maintain electrical lighting throughout the plant.
Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ)
- Comply with company SHEQ rules and regulations.
- Maintain a high level of safety and report all incidents, near misses, and hazards.
- Meet all occupational health requirements applicable to the site.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent or N3 Electrical Engineering certificate
- Awareness of Merseta apprenticeship requirements
- Basic understanding of SANS 10142 wiring standards

Basic familiarity with electrical hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment, or a willingness to learn

Previous exposure to production, workshop, plant, maintenance, electrical, or chemical environments advantageous
